Two more years to go: The development of the SPINELLI Quarter is closely linked to the development of the BUGA 23 in Mannheim. On the one hand, of course, because the first phase of construction on SPINELLI has to be completed with the opening of the Federal Garden Show on April 14, 2023. on the other hand - and you can’t remember that often enough - because from 2024 the BUGA site will be preserved as a large, public parking area for the residents of Käfertal-Süd and all Mannheimers!

Preparations for the Federal Garden Show have been in full swing since the site was handed over. MWSP had partially taken over the demolition of the old warehouses and the unsealing of the asphalted areas, a total of 62 hectares of concrete and paving stones have been cleared. Huge masses of earth are moved across the huge area, the area is modeled according to the plans of the landscape architects and prepared for the planting of the Federal Horticultural Show. In spring, work will begin on the 81-meter-long and around 11-meter-high panoramic walkway that will protrude over the future waterways. The experimental fields are to be laid out later in the year and the bat tower will be set up in the Feudenheimer Au. The planting of 400 trees in the area of the Käfertal park shell will start as early as the end of February - from Rüdesheimer Straße, tree by tree, eastwards over a length of 1.4 kilometers. In order to increase the anticipation of the Federal Horticultural Show, a large construction site summer party is planned on the park area in the middle of the year. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that such a celebration is possible again by then!
