Labour shortages, material shortages and disrupted supply chains – the difficulties facing the construction sector are manifold. In the case of the Spinelli all-day primary school, they have now destroyed all time buffers: The school, which is planned as a timber hybrid building, can only be used from 2024. In a total of three rounds of tenders for the relevant timber construction work, the educational construction specialists at BBS did not even receive an offer – which, together with delays in the window construction work, cost a total of nine valuable months that simply cannot be made up for by the first day of school on 11 September.

After extensive preparations by the principal and staff, the students complete the new school community. In the first half of the year, the all-day primary school is still a "commuting school": In the morning, the bus takes them over to FRANKLIN and there to the former elementary school. Spinelli School and the Franklin School, both new conversion elementary schools, are neighbors for the time being and are also celebrating the enrollment of this year's first graders together. Otherwise, the Spinelli School is also self-sufficient on FRANKLIN, has its own classrooms and administration rooms as well as a small canteen. Rector Sabine Stechl has already planned and organized a lot so that the children lack nothing. Cooperation with the city library, youth traffic school and various service clubs enriches the all-day offer from day one, before returning to SPINELLI together after school. Only the class division does not take place until the last week of the holidays: That's when the number of pupils is determined with which the primary school starts the school year - and just like the neighbourhood will continue to grow.
